Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza (AGH) im. Stanisława Staszica in Kraków is one of Poland’s leading technical universities, ranked among the top ten research institutions in the country. With a community of over 4,000 staff members and nearly 20,000 students, AGH continually seeks to enhance its operations through technological advancements.

To maintain its high educational standards, AGH recognized the need to modernize its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The university’s existing infrastructure faced limitations in automating key administrative and financial processes, streamlining project execution, and improving internal communication. Ensuring compliance with Polish educational regulations while adopting best practices in resource management was also a priority.

AGH partnered with Axians IT Services Poland to implement a cloud-based ERP solution using SAP software. This initiative makes AGH the first Polish university to adopt a subscription-based ERP system in the cloud. The project, which is still ongoing, includes developing a standardized financial and operational model tailored for higher education institutions.

The digital transformation processes at AGH began years ago with tools enhancing scientific and administrative activities. Collaboration with SAP elevates our operations to the next level, providing the academic community with essential solutions for modern university management. We are proud to be pioneers in Poland in adopting cloud solutions, which will soon become standard for large institutions.

AGH's Coordinator for Informatization

By implementing this solution, AGH will gain the flexibility to adapt to changing business environments and introduce new strategies efficiently.

SAP was the system that best met the requirements of AGH. The dedication of our consultants and architects during the competitive dialogue process played a crucial role. Once again, we have demonstrated our expertise in working with higher education institutions.

Beyond automating university management, the system will also serve as an educational tool for students in postgraduate programs dedicated to ERP systems, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application.

AGH’s transition to a cloud-based ERP marks a milestone in its digital evolution. By leveraging advanced technology and collaborating with Axians, the university sets a new benchmark for modern academic management in Poland.
