The Military University of Technology (WAT) in Warsaw educates over 9,000 students, including more than 3,000 officer cadets. It offers 20 study programs across eight faculties, supported by 956 academic teachers.
Facing the challenges of outdated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, WAT recognized the need for modernization to enhance operational efficiency and data management. The existing system lacked integration capabilities and scalability, hindering the university’s ability to adapt to evolving technological demands. To address these issues, WAT sought a comprehensive solution that would streamline processes and support future growth.
In response, Axians was selected to implement a new SAP ERP system at WAT. This implementation is currently ongoing. The project, valued at nearly 16 million PLN net, involves deploying modules such as FI, VIM, FI-AA, CO, PS, MM, PM, REFX, SD, HR PA, HR PY, HR-FIORI, and BASIS. These modules are integrated with existing systems to ensure seamless operations. Additionally, the implementation includes an electronic document repository and analytics and reporting capabilities powered by SAP Analytics Cloud. Also, Axians provides maintenance and warranty services for 36 months post-implementation.
The selection of Axians was influenced by our extensive experience in implementing SAP solutions at higher education institutions, such as the University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology, and the University of Silesia. Implementing SAP at WAT is another S/4HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud project for us. We feel a great responsibility and satisfaction working on such projects, accelerating the digital transformation of higher education in Poland.

This initiative aligns with the broader trend of standardizing operations within Poland’s defense sector, a crucial step given the current geopolitical climate. Axians’ prior experience with the Polish Armaments Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa) has familiarized the company with military standards, enabling them to deliver a high level of security and professionalism in this project.
By adopting a modern SAP ERP system, WAT is poised to enhance its operational efficiency, data management, and overall educational environment, thereby better serving its diverse student body and academic community.
